Monferrato Rosso
Made purely from Pinot Noir grapes,
a variety introduced into the area by Cavour in
the 1800s on the advice of French oenologist Oudart.
This wine is produced and bottled only in great
vintage years with a
growing season particularly suited to the Pinot
Noir variety. After
careful fruit selection and a very particular
vinification technique, the
wine is finished in French oak for about one year.
Visual examination reveals the wine to be ruby
red in colour with good
intensity; On the nose it has a characteristic,
complex bouquet with notes of wild berries, particularly
blueberry. In the mouth, it is soft and well structured
with a persistent fruity finish.
This is a wine that evolves and improves with
at least 7-8 years of bottle-aging. It is a particularly
good accompaniment to robust first courses, savoury
meats, wild game and cheeses which are not overly
piquant.
