Climate
A particularly fresh summer with rain at regular intervals. Balanced ratio of temperture and hydration determined an extended maturation period with abundant vegetative growth. Good weather in the second half of September and beginning October.
In the vineyards
Fresh climate and summer rains made it necessary to take great care in the vineyard; including late season reduction of the number of bunches to insure complete maturation and healthy fruit. Harvesting of Barbera grapes begun in the second half of September, through October resulted in grapes of excellant quality. ( Quantity reduced 20-30% over the 2004 yield). A harvest that, like the previous year 2004, favored and appreciated the best expositions and soils, as well as the careful attention of the growers.
The wines:
Intense colors. Bouquets of mature fruit and spices; a good balance between structure and acidity. Wines of good potential and concentration, suited for aging in wood.
