| In
1815, Marquese Carlo Alfieri had the idea of transforming
the castle's formal gardens into a grand park according
to the romantic English style of the time. He awarded
the job to Xavier Kurten, a German landscape architect.
Kurten, working alongside architect Melano, enlarged
the park and transferred some of the village houses
to the site of the present day community.
An 18th century corridor of planted elms within
the park presently forms a line of perspective
that culminates in a semicircle of carpinus. Many
paths thread over hills and between majestic trees
selected and maintained with great care. One can
admire grand cedars, elms, beeches, lime trees,
and a monumental oak.
